Lot 14. Studies of Chess, containing a systematic introduction to the game and the analysis of chess by A.D Philidor. London 1817. 5th edition. L/N 605. xxxii + 428 pages. With a nice frontispiece etchings of a chess board & pieces and Philidor. Half-bound in calf and red cloth, with gilt spine and raised bands. Marbled edges and endpapers. Corners bumped, small stamps to endpapers, light foxing to a few pages, otherwise very clean and crisp. Very good. |
